Waterless motorcycle cleaning

A motorcycle has lots of small surfaces, and hardly any of them likes a hard jet of water. With NC1 you clean tank, fairing and wheels without a hose, while NC13 removes insect residue as well as oil and grease spots. Add the right microfiber cloths – in a kit or on their own.

Guide

What makes a motorcycle different

On a bike, painted panels, plastic, chrome and exposed mechanics sit close together. A hose pushes water into connectors, bearings and the ignition lock; with a cloth you work precisely, part by part. The principle is the same as on a car: spray on, lift the dirt in one direction, buff with a clean side of the cloth.

The order after a ride

  1. Coarse dirt first: rinse off muddy areas beforehand – NOBELCLEAN expressly recommends this for motorcycles.
  2. Insect front: spray headlight, fairing nose, mirrors and fork with NC13, let it work briefly and wipe off with a damp cloth. Fresh residue comes off far more easily than dried-on residue.
  3. Tank and fairing: spray NC1, lift, buff. The tank gets a fresh cloth, because that is where you notice every scratch first.
  4. Windshield: if it is plastic, read the manufacturer's care instructions first and test on a corner.
  5. Wheels and swingarm: last, with a separate cloth. NC13 lifts oil and grease spots, then NC1 brings back the shine.

Brakes, tires and chain are off limits

No cleaner belongs on brake discs, brake pads or the tire tread – grip matters there, not gloss. Near the brakes, spray onto the cloth rather than the part. Look after the chain with a chain lube, not with NC1 or NC13.

Helmet and visor

According to NOBELCLEAN, NC1 is also suitable for the visor. For coated visors, for example with an anti-fog layer, the helmet manufacturer's instructions come first. For the helmet shell, use the soft microfiber cloths – NOBELCLEAN lists helmets explicitly as a use.

Which kit fits?

For one motorcycle, the NC1 Starter Kit with 500 ml bottle, refill and three cloths is enough to start. If you ride a lot or look after several bikes, the NC1 Professional Set with NC13 and ten extra cloths is worth it.

Keep your cloths for separate jobs: one for tank and fairing, one for the visor, one for wheels and swingarm. That way no brake dust ends up on the paint. The microfiber cloths are washable at up to 95 °C and ready to use again afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Can I clean my motorcycle completely without water?

For dust, road film and fresh insects, yes. Rinse off mud and sand first, because under a cloth the grains act like sandpaper.

Is NC1 suitable for a helmet visor?

According to NOBELCLEAN, yes. For coated visors, for example anti-fog, follow the helmet manufacturer's instructions first.

Can NC1 go on the brakes or chain?

No. Leave out brake discs, pads, tire treads and the chain. Near them, spray NC1 onto the cloth instead of the part.

How do I remove oil and grease spots?

With the NC13 heavy-duty cleaner: spray on, let it work briefly, wipe off with a damp cloth and then buff with NC1 so no streaks remain.
