Waterless aircraft care

NOBELCLEAN teams have been caring for business jets since 2002 – the first was a Learjet 31 in Düsseldorf. NC1 cleans without water and leaves a shine, even in a hangar without a wash bay. What may be used on your aircraft, however, is decided by its manufacturer.

Guide

From the hangar to the shelf

It started in 2002 with a Learjet 31 operated by Traffic Air in Düsseldorf; many other aircraft and helicopter types followed. Among other places, the teams have worked at Jet Aviation, RUAG and Diamond Air. According to NOBELCLEAN, its own teams wash and polish private jets with NC1. That experience is in the product you get here.

The manual comes first

An aircraft is not a car. Which cleaning agents may be used on paint, windows and seals is decided by the manufacturer and the maintenance organization, usually in the maintenance manual. We do not state any aircraft manufacturer approval for NC1. So before using it for the first time, check whether there are requirements for your type, and if in doubt talk to your maintenance organization.

Where waterless makes sense

A hangar usually has no wash bay, and nobody wants water in gaps and openings. Waterless, you work precisely, surface by surface, in small sections so the product does not dry on:

  • Painted surfaces on fuselage and tail: spray NC1, lift in one direction without pressure, buff with a clean cloth.
  • Doors, panels and entry area: this is where fingerprints and dust collect.
  • Smooth surfaces in cockpit and cabin: spray NC1 onto a damp cloth, never directly onto instruments and switches. Leave leather and fabric upholstery out.

What to leave out

Do not spray or wipe probes, static ports, antennas and sensor openings. Cockpit and cabin windows are often acrylic: only the manufacturer's care instructions apply there. And as everywhere: rinse off sand and salt crusts first instead of rubbing them in with a cloth.

Cloths make the difference

Large surfaces use up a lot of clean cloth. The microfiber cloths measure 41 × 41 cm, weigh 420 g/m², are lint-free and washable at up to 95 °C. Keep the cloths for lifting separate from those for buffing, and wash them apart from cotton, without fabric softener. For hangars and flight operations there is NC1 in a 5-liter canister; enquiries go through Bulk orders & volume discounts.

Frequently asked questions

Is NC1 approved for aircraft?

We do not state any approval by an aircraft manufacturer. NOBELCLEAN teams have cared for business jets since 2002; whether NC1 may be used on your aircraft is something to check against the manufacturer's requirements or with your maintenance organization.

Can I use NC1 on cockpit windows?

Many aircraft windows are acrylic. Only the manufacturer's care instructions apply there. If in doubt, leave the windows out.

Is NC1 also suitable for helicopters?

NOBELCLEAN does not list helicopters explicitly for NC1. Besides business jets, its teams have also worked on helicopters; whether NC1 may be used on your type is something to clarify with the manufacturer and your maintenance organization.

What quantities are available for hangars?

NC1 is available in the shop in a 5-liter canister. If you need more, send an enquiry via our page “Bulk orders & volume discounts”.
